DescriptionThis unit of study examines the links between human resource management and the strategic management processes of large and small, private and non-private sector, domestic and international organisations. Different models of business strategy are introduced in order to assess their implications for the management of human resources. The unit provides a critical and in-depth analysis of the theory and practice of strategic human resource management including its relationship to organisational performance and outcomes for employees. The unit also explores human resource managements strategic role in the implementation of change initiatives, such as, diversification, labour flexibility, innovation, and globalisation strategies.
