| Description | The Information Age, with its focus on information as a key business resource, has changed the way Business Information Systems (BIS) are viewed in organisations. In previous years, people approached BIS primarily as a tool to increase efficiency, either by cutting costs, time or energy spent. In the information age, however, the role of BIS is different. It is an enabler of innovation and a tool for getting the right information into the hands of the right people at the right time. This unit is designed to develop your understanding of how businesses operate and shows how business information systems support business operations and management. You will be provided with an introduction to BIS theories, frameworks and models to assist in understanding the nature and contribution of BIS in a range of organisational contexts including private, public and not for profit. Your learning experience will be based on the state-of-the-art educational models of Team-Based Learning, Problem-based Learning and the Reflective BIS Practice. |
