| Description | This unit is an introduction to economic growth including its causes and consequences. The role of capital, technological progress, and other determining factors of the development of economies are studied from the point of view of alternative economic theories. The potential effects of growth and structural change on welfare, income distribution, and employment are looked at in the same contexts with some consideration of the empirical evidence. The role of alternative economic policies and economic institutions in promoting growth is also discussed. |
