| Description | This unit begins with an analysis of three major ethical philosophies: utilitarianism, duty based ethics and virtue ethics. Practical models based upon these philosophies will be studied here and applied throughout the unit. The significance of ethics to the major professions in the business world is the primary focus of this unit of study. Case studies will be used to examine the consequences for the stakeholders (those affected directly and indirectly) of decisions made by professionals. The professions studied include: accountants, auditors, business information system managers, lawyers, company officers such as directors and other executives, and marketing managers. The unit aims to assist students understand and apply ethics to their future professional life. |
