Olivera Marjanovic specialises in business process innovation. Her research seeks to link business processes and IT in business, government and non-profit organisations and to assist them in effectively managing IT-enabled organisational process innovations.

Olivera works particularly in the design and improvement of technically enabled, knowledge intensive, business processes. Within this broad framework, she explores mechanisms for integrating existing human capital - knowledge, experience, insight and decision making capabilities - within information systems frameworks, especially customer facing business processes.

Olivera is co-founder and co-leader of the Business Process Management Research Group (BPMRG), University of Sydney. In 2007, she founded the inaugural BPM Minitrack in the International HICSS Conference and is currently the Australia-Pacific editor for Teradata University Network - the leading world-wide community of industry practitioners, thought leaders, academics and their students in the area of Business Intelligence (BI). In this role, Olivera is actively engaged in research and teaching related activities designed to enhance collaboration among industry and academic partners and hence improve BI-related teaching and research as well as create new opportunities for future BI practitioners.

Olivera has developed strong collaboration with the LORIA/INRIA institute in France in the area of Collaborative Business Processes, having held the role of an Invited Professor in 2005 and 2007. Together with research partners from India, they are currently engaged in a large international project funded by the University of Sydney.

Olivera's expertise in BIS has been recognised by the Australian Research Council where for the last six years she has served in the role of the Australian OzReader, assessing ARC Discovery and Linkage grants in the area of BIS and Education.

Olivera is committed to enhancing BIS education through research-led and practice-informed teaching. She has extensive experience in designing and implementing innovative learning activities aimed at preparing future business professionals to effectively use information, processes and technology in their organisations, to add value, create a sustainable competitive advantage, see new possibilities and to ultimately say 'NO to NO' in the context of future challenges.
