Professor Michael McKenzie is currently Chair of Discipline of Finance at the Faculty of Economics and Business (University of Sydney). Previously, Professor McKenzie held a position of Professor of Empirical Finance in the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing, Faculty of Business at RMIT University. Professor McKenzie is also a Research Associate at the Centre for Financial Analysis and Policy at Cambridge University

Professor McKenzie completed his Bachelor of Business Studies at Massey University in New Zealand, a Masters in Economics from Monash University and in 1997 a PhD in Finance from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). The title of his PhD thesis was "Australian Exchange Rate Volatility".

Professor McKenzie has a solid and steady research background with many of his papers published in the high calibre international journals such as Applied Financial Economics, Accountability and Performance, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting. He has been involved in publishing much work on the financial markets, including two book chapter publications: Professor McKenzie was the Recipient of the 1998 E. Yetton Award for paper of the year by the Editors of the Australian Journal of Management for the paper "Time-Varying Beta Risk of Australian Industry Portfolios: A comparison of modelling techniques".
