Matthew commenced employment in the Discipline of Accounting at the University of Sydney in 2003. In 2006 he enrolled in a PhD by research. His research interest is the emergence of organisational interest in 'environmental' issues and understanding how that impacts on management and organisational behaviours and routines. His PhD is specifically focusing on exploring the detail and motivations behind, the emergence of water management and accounting systems and techniques in organisations operating in the Sydney region.
Prior to commencing employment at The University of Sydney in 2003, Matthew was Finance Manager for a medium-sized publicly listed entity. Matthew had a variety of financial and administrative responsibilities in that role including holding the role of Company Secretary to the group. Matthew has experience in the preparation of monthly management accounting reports, year-end annual reports and tax returns, as well as liaison with auditors, financial institutions and regulatory bodies. In addition to this, Matthew has over seven years' experience in two chartered accounting firms both in Australia and Solomon Islands where he was responsible for client audit, accounting, secretarial and taxation needs. Matthew also has three years' experience in internal audit through the NSW Department of Education and Training.
