Joanne Pickering has been a lecturer in accounting at Sydney University since 1992. Over the years she has taught both financial and management accounting to undergraduates. More recently she has been teaching and coordinating the postgraduate introductory financial accounting unit. Joanne engages in research related to her teaching, in particular the introduction of technological innovations to the classroom.
Joanne's research interests also include the use of international financial accounting standards in Australia and around the world and disclosure issues related to segment reporting.
Prior to her move to Australia, Joanne worked in the banking industry in Canada for seventeen years, including seven years as an internal auditor. She holds a Certified Management Accountant designation from the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.
