Thesis (working) title and description

Hybrid Institutional Logics in the Microfinance Field

This thesis investigates the institutional logics of the microfinance field within the theoretical framework of institutional theory and organizational rhetoric. Microfinance is a field characterised by a confluence of the commercial logic and the 'welfarist' logic. The thesis tries to answer the empirical question: why has the commercial logic not achieved complete dominance in terms of organizational forms and practices, despite key dominant players institutionalizing the commercial paradigm?
