Econometrics and Management Decision Sciences Final Honours Year

Structure

The honours year may be structured as:

  • Coursework and thesis: Four one year long modules at the 4000 level, worth 12 credit points each plus thesis.
  • Joint honours by thesis: Half the "honours by thesis" coursework requirementof each discipline plus thesis written in one discipline only.

The modules for Econometrics are:

The modules for Management Decision Sciences are:

Students are asked to note that those undertaking honours by coursework are not eligible for the university medal and only those with an exceptional performance across all subjects are eligible for consideration for first class honours.

All students must attend and participate in research seminars and workshops within the discipline.

Double or Joint Honours

It is possible to complete either double honours or joint honours in Econometrics.Double honours involves completing all the honours requirements in Econometrics and one other subject and thus normally takes an additional year. In joint honours the two subjects are more generally closely related and a special program of study is designed for fourth year. This will usually entail doing approximately half the final honours requirements for Econometrics and half for some other subject.

The Discipline of Operations Management and Econometrics Statistics encourages joint Honours with other Disciplines where feasible. A student must satisfy the requirements for entry to Honours in one of the disciplines and a major in the other discipline.

Theses Submission

Supervisors may supply students with a sample template for the marking of theses.

The final grade of honours will be determined on the following University scale:
