Welcome to the Discipline of Operations Management and Econometrics

Operations Management and Econometrics is a grouping of specialists in operations management, management science, econometrics and statistics.

We are engaged in all aspects of analysing data and building models to assist in management decisions in the financial, econometric and operations areas. Our graduates are equipped to carry out sophisticated analyses of both operational and policy issues in the public and private sectors.

The discipline has strengths in the areas of financial econometrics; business forecasting; Bayesian econometrics; computationally intensive estimation methodology; supply chain management; scheduling theory and energy markets.

As well as theoretical and applied work within the discipline, Operations Management and Econometrics brings sophisticated quantitative techniques to all areas of research and scholarship within the Faculty. This allows specialists in other disciplines to undertake a level of data analysis that would not otherwise be possible, and also enables cross-disciplinary collaborations in areas such as measuring risk in financial markets.

In September 2008 the group adopted its present name having previously been known as the Discipline of Econometrics and Business Statistics. This change recognises the important role of Operations Management in the group alongside the continuing strength in Econometrics.
