Faculty of Economics and Business announces scholarship for new Master of Management degree
30 Sep 2008
The Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Sydney will offer two, $30,000 scholarships for its new pre-experience Master of Management degree being offered for the first time in 2009.
All local students applying into the Master of Management and the Master of Management (CEMS)* will be considered for the 12-month scholarships. One scholarship will be awarded to students applying for entry in the first cohort and one will be awarded to students applying for mid year entry and will cover all tuition fees.
The Program Director, Associate Professor Nick Wailes said: "these generous scholarships are a strong signal of the Faculty's commitment to encouraging excellence and ensuring equity of access to its elite degree programs."
The scholarship recipient will be selected from a short list of the best applicants for the new degree by a committee, chaired by the Dean of the Faculty Professor Peter Wolnizer, and including representatives from corporate sponsors of the program. The committee will also include alumni of the CEMS Master of International Management- the global degree linked with the Master of Management.
The Master of Management is a 12-month management degree designed to give recent graduates, from both business and non-business backgrounds, leading edge business knowledge and the skills they need to apply this knowledge in a corporate context.
Limited to 50 students per cohort, one of the hallmarks of the degree is a six-week consulting project in which students work with one of the degree???s corporate sponsors on a real-life business problem.
Applications for the first cohort close at the end of the October this year. Students enrolled in the Master of Management who are fluent in more than one language will have the opportunity to complete their degree at CEMS partner institutions in Europe, the Amercias and Asia and will have access to unique international internship opportunities with CEMS corporate partners.
Details of the scholarship were announced at the student launch of the degree held at the University of Sydney last week. The event was attended by almost 400 prospective students who heard from a representative from Deloitte, one of the principal corporate sponsors of the degree, as well as students who had recently completed the CEMS Master of Management degree at top European business schools, including LSE and HEC Paris.
