Description

The International Business major is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills relevant to the development, strategy and management of international business organisations and the institutional context for their development, growth and operation.

Requirements for the major

Students intending to complete an International Business major must complete at least six junior units of study (36 credit points) including at least two junior units (12 credit points) selected from those offered by the Faculty of Economics and Business as prerequisites for the major.

For a major in International Business, students must complete a minimum 36 credit points in senior units of study, comprising:

Please Note:

  1. All units of study marked with an "*" will NOT be offered for 2009 enrolments
  2. Almost all senior elective units of study require the completion of additional prerequisites outside of those units of study listed for this major. Students who choose to include language units of study from the Faculty of Arts (after seeking permission to do so from the Chair of the Discipline of International Business) must meet the prerequisite requirements for these units of study as set out in the Faculty of Arts Handbook.
  3. # From 2008, Government and International Relations and Political Economy will be part of the Faculty of Arts. All ECOP and GOVT units will be considered as Arts units of study for students commencing in 2008. Students enrolled in the combined Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws or the Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws from 2008 cannot complete any ECOP, GOVT or language units as part of their major because they are restricted to completing only units from the Faculties of Economics and Business and Law for their degree.

Requirements for the extended major

To obtain an extended major in International Business , students must complete the following units of study (including 48 credit points in senior units of study):

  1. All the compulsory units listing under the International Business major (see above), and
  2. At least four (4) senior units of study (24 credit points) selected from the elective units of study listing under the International Business major (those listed under point (ii) above).
