Description | This major is intended for students currently practising in the fields of employment relations and/or people management, as well as those wishing to develop careers in these areas. It offers an integrated array of introductory and advanced units of study covering all main facets of employment within organisations. The major is configured so as to equip students with an understanding of both the ‘macro’ and ‘micro’ aspects of employment, to develop their awareness of the relationship between the two, and to acquire a thorough grounding in the strategic, legal, ethical and behavioural aspects of the employment relationship. The electives allow students to pursue advanced study in specific high profile employment processes and practices, including employee recruitment and selection, development and performance management, reward management, diversity management, workplace bargaining, and workplace health and safety. The major is also configured to address the learning needs of graduate students wishing to acquire an international perspective on employment relations and human resource management.
