Business Information Systems (Master of Business) - Continuing Students Only

Major type

Postgraduate

Description

The Business Information Systems (BIS) major focuses on the ways in which databases and enterprise information systems can be used strategically for business innovation and process improvement. The BIS graduate will be required to analyse, plan and develop IT solutions that support the business needs of the firm. Tasks of the graduate include participating in business planning, business needs analysis and business risk assessment. Activities also entail in-house consultant work with the various functional areas of an organsation, providing advice and guidance on how to support the business operations through the effective use of IT. The major encourages students to develop the ability to contribute to the decision-making, design and implementation of business process change. Graduates could expect to obtain employment in the general management area of a business or in one that has a high dependency on information systems to support its operations. The major aims to equip students to fill positions in those organisations that specialise in the design, development, supply and auditing of information systems. This is a hybrid role combining business acumen with technological experience.

Please Note.

The Master of Business program, including this major, is only available to continuing students and will except no new enrolments from Semester 2, 2008.
