Description

This major is a second required major option for the Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies) and will be offered by the Faculty of Arts, through the Department of Government and International Relations in the new School of Social and Political Sciences from 2008.

Government and International Relations is one of the largest academic groups within the Faculty of Arts, offering a range of units in areas such as:international relations and international business; the state and organisation of economic activity; communist and post-communist systems; Asia and the Pacific; Australian politics; Australian foreign and defence policy; American politics; public policy and public management; international security; human rights; political institutions; and political theory. Units offered by the Department of Government and International Relations are available to all students, subject to award course requirements.

The Internship in Public Policy and Affairs provides selected senior students with the opportunity to complete a research project whilst undertaking a professional placement. This unit is equivalent to 18 credit points of senior units of study in Government and International Relations.

Pre-2006 students

Students who commenced their degree prior to 2006 may complete the following to qualify for a major in Government and International Relations:

  1. 2 x GOVT1000 level units of study
  2. A minimum of 32 credit points of senior (2000 or 3000 level) units of study in Government and International Relations.
