Description | This major is a second required major option for the Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies) and will be offered by the Faculty of Arts, through the Department of Political Economy in the new School of Social and Political Sciences from 2008. Studies in Political Economy are a focal point for critical inquiry into contemporary economic issues, taking account of their connections with social, political and environmental concerns. Political Economy is an excellent background for a wide range of careers such as journalism and the media, economic research, teaching, public service, and management. | |
Requirements for the major | Students intending to complete a major in Political Economy must complete two prerequisite junior units of study (12 credit points), as follows:

Pre-2009 students | Students who commenced their degree prior to 2009, may choose to complete a Political Economy major as follows: Students intending to complete a major in Political Economy must complete two prerequisite junior units of study (12 credit points), as follows:
† Please Note: Bachelor of International Studies students may substitute the compulsory junior unit of study ECOP1002 with ECOP1003 International Economy and Finance to complete a major in Political Economy.
