Description

This major is a second major option for the Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies) and is offered by the Faculty of Science.

The School of Mathematics and Statistics offers units of study in Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics and Pure Mathematics. Junior units of study cover a range of topics in mathematics and statistics and are offered at three levels: Life Sciences, Normal and Advanced, to suit various levels of previous knowledge. Intermediate, senior and honours units of study are mostly provided within one of the subject areas of Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics and Pure Mathematics. Requirements for the major

Students intending to complete a major in Mathematics must complete at least 12 credit points in prerequisite junior Mathematics units of study selected from the following:

To obtain a major in Mathematics, student must complete at least 36 credit points in intermediate and senior units of study, comprising:

* Note: ECMT1010 is a prohibition for these units. If students are intending to complete a Econometrics or Management Decision Sciences major as well as a Mathematics major they should enrol in ECMT1010 and choose an alternative junior unit rather than MATH1005/MATH1905 for their Mathematics major.
