Description

This major is intended for students wishing to develop careers in the fields of logistics and supply chain management, as well as those currently practising in these areas. A major theme throughout the major is that sourcing, manufacturing and distribution are of primary importance in the formulation of business and corporate strategy. Thus the emphasis of this major is on the operations and logistics function in companies that source, produce, distribute and market nationally and internationally. This major provides a sound grounding in the concepts, techniques and principles that underlie logistics and supply chain management and discusses these issues from a managerial, practice-oriented perspective. Students will develop skills in strategic planning, operations and human resources, and the application of analytical tools such as network analysis, inventory and distribution, vehicle routing and scheduling, and development of information systems.

Requirements for the major

To obtain a Supply Chain and Logistics Management major, students must complete four units of study (24 credit points), comprising:

  1. two compulsory units of study (12 credit points):
  2. two elective units of study (12 credit points) selected from the following:

Please Note:

  1. TPTM6155 should be completed at the beginning of this major. This unit is a prerequisite for TPTM6170, TPTM6190, TPTM6200, TPTM6270, TPTM6370 and TPTM6380 and is a corequisite for TPTM6310.
  2. TPTM6495 is a prerequisite for TPTM6190 and a corequisite for TPTM6310, TPTM6350, TPTM6360 and TPTM6425.
  3. TPTM6170 is the capstone unit for this major and should be completed at the end of this major.

Availability of this major

This version of this major is available under the Master of Commerce, Master of Commerce and Master of Facilities Management, Master of Commerce and Master of Logistics Management, Master of Commerce and Master of Professional Accounting, Master of International Business and Master of Commerce and Master of Transport Management and Master of Commerce.

Students enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Commerce or the Master of Professional Accounting may choose units from this major subject area as electives in their course.
