Description

In order to become a professional accountant, students must become accredited by CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA).

Requirements for accreditation

To meet accreditation requirements, students must complete the following units of study:

1. Seven compulsory Accounting units of study (42 credit points):
• ACCT1001 Accounting 1A *
• ACCT1002 Accounting 1B *
• ACCT2011 Financial Accounting A
• ACCT2012 Management Accounting A
• ACCT3011 Financial Accounting B
• ACCT3012 Management Accounting B
• ACCT3014 Auditing and Assurance
2. Three compulsory Commercial Law units of study (18 credit points):
• CLAW1001 Commercial Transactions A
• CLAW2201 Corporations Law
• CLAW3201 Australian Taxation System
3. One compulsory Finance unit of study (six credit points):
• FINC2011 Corporate Finance I *

Availablity of this program

The professional accreditation in accounting program is an available option in the following degrees offered by the Faculty of Economics and Business:

• Bachelor of Commerce
• Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts
• Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws
• Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Science
• Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies)
• Bachelor of Economics

Students in the following degrees administered by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies also have the option of completing a major in professional accreditation in accounting:

• Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Commerce
• Bachelor of Information Technology and Bachelor of Commerce

An professional accreditiaion in accounting program or electives in this area may also be available to students enrolled in other degrees in the University. Students should check the other faculty's course information for further details.
