Learning and Teaching Associates Network
The Learning and Teaching Associates Network focuses on pedagogy, innovation, support and diffusion. The main aim of an Associate is to champion teaching and learning in the discipline with their colleagues by:
- Working strategically with their Discipline Chair and the support of the Associates Network Chair to identify where improvements in learning and teaching can be readily made with more impact on Faculty and University KPIs for the Learning and Teaching Performance Fund
- Actively developing the Associates Network as a productive place where relevant innovations and support to the disciplines are explored and best practice is disseminated
- Reporting on the achievements of their discipline in teaching and learning by 21 July and 1 December

Who are the Learning and Teaching Associates?
Learning and Teaching Associates are academics in the Faculty of Economics and Business who have demonstrated a commitment to quality learning and teaching, and a willingness to act as a conduit between the Office of Learning and Teaching in Economics and Business and colleagues in their discipline. Learning and Teaching Associates provide discipline-based leadership and localised expertise to support the provision of excellent teaching and learning.

Responsibilities of the Learning and Teaching Associate in your discipline
The Learning and Teaching Associate in each discipline is expected to spend an average of 2-3 hours per week on Learning and Teaching Associate activities and participate actively in the monthly Network meetings. Responsibilities are as follows:
- Help to induct new colleagues into good practice teaching and learning and Faculty procedures (e.g. class reps; marking criteria; consultation hours; requesting a Blackboard site)
- Provide information about learning and teaching developments across the Faculty (e.g. innovations in other disciplines, disseminating Associates meeting notes, circulating flyers of forthcoming events)
- Respond to requests for advice from discipline colleagues (e.g. developing/ revising curricula, reviewing of UoS Outlines prior to Blackboard site requests)
- Increase the uptake of Learning and Teaching support available to their discipline (e.g. learning and teaching website; OLTEB; SIO) and beyond (e.g. Maths Learning Centre).
- Provide disciplinary feedback on learning and teaching developments and challenges
- Arrange discipline workshops and seminars, in conjunction with staff from the OLTEB as appropriate, in their discipline to support colleagues' learning and teaching activities
- Contribute to the development of best practice resources to support curriculum development and teaching excellence
