Postgraduate Coursework Studies
All programs require prerequisites to be met in terms of appropriate units of study to be undertaken at the undergraduate level, standards of performance in your first degree, or professional or other experience gained concurrently with, or subsequent to, your first degree being obtained.
Master's Degrees
Admissions requirements vary from program to program, but in general entry into a Masters degree at the Faculty of Economics and Business in the University of Sydney generally requires an Australian Bachelors degree (or an equivalent qualification) with a minimum credit (65%) average. Some specialist programs require your undergraduate degree to be in the same field as the master's program you are applying for.
Graduate Diplomas and Certificates
Graduate diplomas and certificates generally include subjects from the master's programs, and provide an exit point after fewer units of study. The admission requirements for these courses also varies. Admission into a graduate diploma usually requires the completion of a bachelor's degree at a satisfactory standard in any field from a recognised institution and for the applicant to have at least 3 years work experience. (Please check the particular award course you are interested in regarding this requirement).
Admission requirements vary for graduate certificates and may include tertiary qualifications (eg TAFE), extensive relevant work experience and an aptitude for further study.
In most programs, students may apply to upgrade from the graduate certificate or diploma to the masters degree within the embedded sequence upon completion of at least four units of study. A minimum Credit (65%+) average is required across all units of study attempted in order for upgrade applications to be considered. Upgrades are competitive and subject to places available.

Application Requirements for International Students
Academic Qualifications Guidelines by Country for Entry to Masters Degrees in the Faculty of Economics & Business
For international students, it is advisable to contact The University of Sydney's International Office for more information on how your degree average grade equates to the credit average grade for Australian universities.
The following table provides a guideline of the equivalent scores that the Faculty has determined are equivalent to a credit average for those countries from where most of our international students come. For countries with different tiers of institutions, the table lists a range of scores - the relevant score will depend on the issuing institution.
The Faculty also assesses whether a particular qualification in a country is equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree. A final decision on whether a particular qualification is sufficient for entry into a degree program at the Faculty will be made upon application.
