Marketing Major (Undergraduate)

Description

Marketing is a pervasive element in modern society and is increasingly vital to the success of private and public sector organisations. The program in marketing emphasises critical and analytical thinking and the practice of marketing as an applied science. A Marketing major will give you knowledge about consumer behaviour and purchase decision making, integrating theory and practice from many branches of the social sciences. Team building presentation skills, initiative and business planning skills are important elements of the program.

Requirements for the major

Students intending to complete a major in Marketing must complete the following two prerequisite junior units of study (12 credit points):

For a major in Marketing, students must complete the a minimum of 36 credit points in senior units of study, comprising:

  1. Two compulsory units of study (12 credit points), as follows:
  2. At least four senior units of study (24 credit points) selected from the following:

Requirements for the extended major

To obtain an extended major in Marketing , students must complete the following units of study (including 48 credit points in senior units of study):

  1. All the compulsory units listing under the Marketing major (see above)
  2. At least six senior units of study (42 credit points) selected from the elective units of study listing under the Marketing major (those listed under point (ii) above).

Pre-2006 students

Students who commenced their degree prior to 2006 may complete the following to qualify for a major in Marketing:

  1. Two compulsory junior units of study:MKTG1001 and MKTG1002
  2. A minimum of 32 credit points of senior (2000 or 3000 level) units of study in Marketing including: MKTG2002/2112; and one of the following units: MKTG3001/3111, MKTG3201, or MKTG3118.
