Economics Major (Undergraduate)
Description
Economics provides a valuable understanding of the overall context of business and government, and the technical skills to analyse economic and social data and events. It equips students to work on economic and social policy. It also provides key capabilities for students who wish to work in business fields such as financial markets, marketing, transport and logistics, international trade and consulting or the media. Economics at Sydney is a significant and influential grouping within the discipline in Australia. It is an important centre of policy analysis and review and one of the most important training grounds for economists within the region.

- # In 2008, the Department of Political Economy became part of the Faculty of Arts. All 'ECOP' units are therefore considered as Arts units of study for students commencing from 2008 onwards. Students who choose to complete 'ECOP' units in this major should note that they will be count as other faculty units for their degree. Students may choose to include these units as part of their major, however they will be restricted by the number of other faculty units they are able to complete as part of their degree. Each degree limits students in the number of credit points they can take from outside of the Faculty of Economics and Business. Students should refer to the course rules for their particular degree for details. For example, students enrolled in the combined Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws or the Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws from 2008 cannot complete any 'ECOP' units as part of their major because they are restricted to completing only units from the Faculties of Economics and Business and Law for their degree.
