Changes to Postgraduate Programs in 2009 and Transitional Arrangements for Continuing Students

Changes to Courses

The Business & Society and Governance majors are not available to students commencing in 2009. GOVT5001 Business, Government & Society has also been removed from the list of core units. If you commenced the Master of Commerce (or an embedded sequence) prior to 2009 you may still count GOVT5001 towards core unit requirements and complete the Business & Society or Governance majors by undertaking the relevant units listed in the pre-2009 Faculty Handbooks.

WORK6118 Managing Communication in Organisations has moved from Table B to Table A. If you commenced prior to 2009, you may count WORK6118 towards either Table A or Table B requirements.

From 2009, students may substitute IBUS6012 International Entrepreneurship and/or IBUS6014 Intellectual Property Management with one or two of the following units: IBUS6013 Entrepreneurial Restructuring & Renewal, IBUS6016 Social Entrepreneurship or IBUS6017 Enterprise & the Creative Industries. IBUS5011 Foundations of Entrepreneurship and IBUS6015 Innovation & Enterprise Special Project remain compulsory units.

ECOP6015 Global Employment & Migration, ECOP6016 China in the World Economy and GOVT6125 Politics of the World Economy are no longer available as elective units for the International Business component of the degree. If you commenced prior to 2009 however, you may count these units towards your degree requirements as per pre-2009 Faculty Handbooks. Additional International Business elective units available in 2009 are CISS6003 Business and Security, CISS6007 Terrorism in the Asia-Pacific Region, CISS6013 Middle East Conflict & Security and IBUS5001 Global Context of Business.

Additional units of study are available to students in 2009. CISS6012 Civil Military Relations, CISS6013 Middle East Conflict & Security have been added to Table A and IBUS5001 Global Context of Business, LAWS6218 International Humanitarian Law, PHIL7841 Reasoning, Argument & Explanation and USSC6911 Issues in Power & Democracy have been added to Table B. GOVT6136 Asia-Pacific Politics has moved from Table A to Table B. If you commenced prior to 2009, you may count GOVT6136 towards either Table A or Table B requirements.

From 2009, the core component of this course will comprise 6 units of study (4 compulsory units of study listed in Table A and 2 elective units of study selected from Table B). Students not completing one of the MTM combined degrees must complete a further 2 elective units of study. If you commenced the program prior to 2009 you may continue to complete your program as outlined in the pre-2009 Faculty Handbooks OR you may elect to complete your program under the new course structure.

From 2009, this course will comprise 6 core units of study (4 compulsory units of study listed in Table A and 2 elective units of study selected from Table B). If you commenced the program prior to 2009 you may continue to complete 3 core and 3 elective units as outlined in the pre-2009 Faculty Handbooks OR you may elect to complete your program under the new course structure.

From 2009, this course will comprise 4 compulsory core units of study. If you commenced the program prior to 2009 you may continue to complete 3 core and 1 elective unit as outlined in the pre-2009 Faculty Handbooks OR you may elect to complete your program under the new course structure by undertaking TPTM6241 Transport Modes & Systems in addition to the 3 core units currently listed for the program.
