Upgrades

Students may apply to upgrade from a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma to a Masters degree within an embedded sequence upon completion of at least four units of study. A minimum Credit (65%+) average is required across all units of study attempted in order for upgrade applications to be considered. Upgrades are competitive and subject to places available.

Upgrade requests to Honours in the Master of Commerce, Master of International Business, Master of HRM&IR or Master of International Security have different eligibility criteria (please see the course descriptions for more information). Undertaking Honours programs within other Masters degrees are handled directly by the relevant discipline, not via this upgrade application process.

When applying for an upgrade, subjects completed at Summer School can only be considered towards a Semester 2 application, and subjects completed at Winter School can only be considered towards a Semester 1 application. For example, if you complete three subjects in Semester 2, 2008, plus one in Summer School 2008/09, you will not be eligible to apply for an upgrade in Semester 1, 2009.

The closing dates for these applications are often set before results for the current semester are released. Therefore it is important to be prepared, and submit the application well in advance of the new semester's commencement date. Further details on closing dates may be found on the application form.
