2009 Australia-Korea Internship Program (AKIP)
The Research Institute for Asia and the Pacific at the University of Sydney, is currently accepting applications for the 2009 Australia-Korea Internship Program (AKIP), a program funded by the Australia-Korea Foundation, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Applications are open to students from all states and territories in Australia who are studying a postgraduate coursework degree, or in their senior year of an undergraduate degree in one of the following faculties/departments:
- economics,
- commerce,
- finance,
- accounting,
- business,
- marketing,
- information and communications technology and
- international trade.
In addition, applicants must be an Australian citizen to be eligible to apply.
AKIP, now in its fifth year, offers exceptional opportunities for outstanding students who wish to experience a cultural exchange program while pursuing a business related career in the Asia-Pacific region. It involves students spending two months in Seoul working for a local or multinational Korean company. Former participating host companies have included:
- POSCO - The world's third largest steel producer
- Samsung Group - Global leader in electronics, with additional subsidiaries in industries including chemical, mechanical, entertainment and finance
- Hyundai Corporation – One of Korea’s leading general trading company
