Description
The Graduate Certificate in Marketing is relevant for qualified professionals who wish to complete a short program to update their skills and knowledge in Marketing. Upon completion of the Graduate Certificate, students may apply to upgrade to the Graduate Diploma or Master of Commerce. A minimum Credit (65%) average is required for upgrade applications to be considered and students should note that upgrade to the higher level programs is competitive and subject to places available. This course is available to local students only as Marketing Principles must be completed prior to enrolment in elective units of study (the course is therefore available as a part-time program only).
Course Rules
To be awarded the Graduate Certificate in Marketing, students must successfully complete a total of four units of study (24 credit points), comprising:
- one core unit of study (six credit points)
- three elective units of study (18 credit points)

Enrolment Guide
Students would normally complete the core unit of study in their first semester of enrolment and the elective units of study in the following semester/s. If students complete the core unit of study in Summer/Winter School or do not have to take the prerequisite unit of study 'MKTG5001 Marketing Principles' due to previous studies, then they may commence elective units of study within their first semester of study.
The following table shows an example course progression for a student enrolled in the Graduate Certificate of Marketing on a part-time basis undertaking the compulsory unit of study in semester one and the elective units in the following semesters.

Professional Recognition
The Graduate Certificate in Marketing has been recognised by the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI). This course will assist a person in being eligible for associate membership of the Australian Marketing Institute and contribute towards the educational qualifications under the Certified Practising Marketer (CPM) program.
Entry Requirements
For entry into this course, students must have completed a bachelor's degree, graduate diploma, graduate certificate or equivalent (at a standard acceptable to the Faculty) OR have at least five years' work experience.

Duration of Course
The minimum duration of this course is one year part-time. Students must complete 'MKTG5001' (which is available in Summer School) prior to commencing the other units of study.
Upon successful completion of this course, students may be eligible to upgrade to the Graduate Diploma or Master of Commerce.
