Further Information

In an information age, with its focus on information as a key business resource, Business Information Systems (BIS) has emerged as the key enabler of innovation and operational efficiency by ensuring the right information is available to the right people at the right time.

Consistent with the Faculty's emphasis emphasis on a multi-disciplinary approach, the Business Information Systems major in the M.Com aims to meet the increasing demand for professionals who possess the business acumen to understand a company's business systems and information needs, and who also have the technical awareness to ensure that the right computer and networking support is available. The primary emphasis of the major is on the ways in which information, knowledge, databases and enterprise information systems can be used strategically for business process improvement and innovation. In addition to providing students with a core business and technical body of knowledge the Major develops softer skills - such as critical analysis, problem solving, report writing, group work and giving presentations - required if students are to apply that knowledge in an organisational setting.
