ACS Professional Accreditation
The Faculty's undergraduate Business Information Systems majors (available through the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Economics) are accredited by the Australian Computer Society until the end of 2009, with new options for students currently being proposed (see below).
Current undergraduate accreditation requirements are as follows. For the purpose of enhancing diversity of learning experiences, it is recommended that all students in the double major undergraduate programs take an ICT-related subject offered by another faculty/school.
Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Economics with a double major in Business Information Systems
At least 48 credit points in INFS subjects:
- Completion of INFS1000 Business Information Systems Foundations, INFS2001 Business Information Systems, INFS2020 Business Process Integration and Modelling and INFS3040 Enterprise Systems.
- Completion of four more senior units of study in INFS
- Satisfy the full requirements for completion of the program
Bachelor of Commerce (Hons)/Bachelor of Economics (Hons) with a double major in Business Information Systems
- Completion of the Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Economics with a double major in Business Information Systems or equivalent
- Completion of INFS4102 Business Information Systems Honours B and INFS4104 Business Information Systems Honours D
Proposed Changes to Undergraduate BIS Majors from 2010
It is proposed that, subject to approval, a reduced BIS major with six INFS Units of Study be introduced from 2010 to facilitate students taking BIS as part of a joint major. The six unit BIS major will be accredited by the ACS at Associate-Professional level.
The current eight unit BIS major (with at least three units at INFS3XXX level) will be labelled BIS Major (Professional) on the testamur and will be accredited by the ACS at full Professional level. A minor in BIS, with four INFS units of study, will remain accredited by the ACS at Associate-Professional level.
Master of Commerce with a major in Business Information Systems
The BIS major in the Master of Commerce was awarded full Professional level accreditation in 2008 for five years. Accreditation requirements are:
- Completion of INFS5000 and a minimum of five 6000-level.
Master of Business Information Systems
Please note that the MBIS is no longer taking enrolments - this information is for current students only. The MBIS is accredited at the Australian Computer Society Professional Level. Students must also satisfy all other requirements for completion of the program.
