How long does the program  run for?

The  Undergraduate Mentoring Program runs for a total of 3 weeks from the beginning  of semester. The  Postgraduate Mentoring Program runs for a total of 5 weeks from the beginning  of semester.

How can I sign up?

There  are numerous ways you can sign up for the Mentoring Program. The easiest and most common means to register is via the mentoring website. Otherwise, you can register on the Economics  and Business enrolment days or on Orientation day.

What does the peer  mentoring program entail?

The  program is designed to assist new students to build academic and social  networks so that they settle more quickly into life as a student in the Faculty  and therefore have a more successful, productive and positive personal and  academic experience.
This  is achieved by small groups of new students meeting and undertaking a range of  formal and informal tasks under the support and direction of a mentor.

How many meetings will I  be required to attend?

There  are 3 official organised meetings with your mentor.  These meetings are not compulsory. However, meetings  have been found to be beneficial in building network groups to support and  encourage each other and share information, meet other new students studying  the same course as you and in gaining advice and guidance from a senior student.

Do social events have compulsory attendance?

No,  attending social events is not compulsory.

Can my mentor help with academic based questions/course specific?

No, your  mentor can only give you advice based on their own experience on course/  academic based questions/issues.  Mentors  are not trained to be course advisors, however, they will be able to give you information  on using the library, how to get academic assistance, what services are  available, and using the Faculty's online learning system, Blackboard.

What happens if I stop attending meetings?

Meeting  attendance is not compulsory. As a matter of courtesy, please advise  your mentor if you wish to no longer participate in the program.

What if I can't find my mentor?

If  you can't find your mentor, please email the Mentoring Program Coordinators at the appropriate address: undergraduates or postgraduates.

When will social events take place?

Social  event dates and times are organised by the Mentoring Program Coordinators. Please check your  University email regularly for the dates and times of social events otherwise  you mentor will advise you of these dates during your regular meetings.
