Academic Honesty

To ensure that you are aware of academic honesty requirements of the University, all Faculty of Economics and Business students are automatically enrolled in a not-for-credit Blackboard Academic Honesty module. You are encouraged to complete this module in your own time (approximately 30-40 minutes) so that you are aware of academic honesty issues and rules and how the Faculty deals with cases of academic dishonesty. In order to complete the module, you should first review the academic honesty information on this website.

In some units of study, your lecturer may require you to take this module before handing in your first assessment. To take the module, log in to Blackboard and look for the 'Academic Honesty' in 'Courses in which you are enrolled'.

For more information, refer to the University of Sydney's policy on Student Plagiarism.

Plagiarism Detection

Your unit of study coordinator may make available honesty assurance software (Safe Assign) through Blackboard. This would be available for you to use to check a draft assessment before final submission. All students enrolled in the Academic Honesty module have access to Safe Assignmnt in Blackboard.

Your unit of study coordinator will advise you of its use and clarify the interpretation of matching statistics in the relevant discipline and assessment context. At all times, the responsibility for academic honesty remains with you as the student. If you have any queries about its application in your unit of study, please see the unit outline or unit of study coordinator.
